Capital Regional Cancer Center is the 5th cancer center in the U.S. to have a new linear accelerator system which delivers helical tomotherapy, providing continuous delivery of radiotherapy while rotating 360 degrees around the patient. This allows for a much quicker treatment planning process and faster delivery of therapy. This allows for treatment of diseases that are larger in size or scattered in location. This system provides the ability to acquire high resolution helical CT images to guide treatment delivery.
- Designed to enable doctors to more efficiently and effectively deliver precise radiation treatments – even as the patient’s tumor regresses or weight changes.
- Daily CT images utilize adaptive radiation therapy to identify and correct biological changes that could potentially affect dose distribution.
- Capable of treating with submillimeter precision
